Hello,
This is my A2 Media Blog that I documented my work on when making my film trailer, poster and magazine. I started my research and planning in June 2012 and I continued this throughout the production of my products which I began in November 2012.
I hope you enjoy looking through my blog, thank you :)

Evaluation Progress

I have been off college for two and a half weeks so therefore I was behind on my coursework- my videos may not be fully complete in time for when you will be looking at my blog. Also, difficulties with the iMacs in college have decreased the pace I was aiming to move at.  I have took screenshots of my work as proof of my evaluation so far. Hopefully the finished videos and slideshow will be up so you can see them.

Evaluation: Q4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

BLOGGER
I documented my research and planning through this website.
When creating my products I posted my work's progress after each session I worked on them.
It was easy to use the blog when creating the trailer, poster and magazine to decide what I wanted to include in them.

iSHOWU
Used to record videos.
I did a January podcast showing what I had done so far throughout the year.
Also I used this programme for Q4 of my evaluation.
Used it in AS year so I was familiar with how it works.

GARAGE BAND
First time using this programme properly, it was hard to get used to but then became a lot easier to use.
Used to create sound for the trailer.

iMOVIE
As I was the editor, I used this programme the most throughout the process of making the trailer.
I found it very easy to use as you simply had to drag and drop clips into your project from the event.
Was used to edit the trailer.

iPHONE
As I have an iPhone it was easy to get social networking feedback and audience feedback through texting people photos of my poster and magazine.
I could also use blogger on my phone so I could make posts whenever I wanted to.

MICROSOFT EXCEL
Was used to create my publication plan.
It was easy to plan my time as you could highlight boxes on the dates we intended to do certain things.

PHOTOSHOP
Used in AS and during GCSE.
I became a lot more familiar with the tools, especially the photo editing.
Was used to create the poster and magazine.

THE INTERNET
Used a lot like in AS year to gather research for my blog and to aid me in creating my products.
I used sites such as YouTube, Word It Out, IMdb & Prezi.

Evaluation: Q3 What have you learned from your audience feedback?

These are some vox pops that i filmed after getting moderator feedback, they were filmed after i had finished all of my products.

IN THE VIDEO I DISCUSSED:
Interview video, questions and answers.
Questionnaires.
Proposals & Treatment.
Rough Cut of Trailer and feedback.
Presentation to class.
Text messaging friends for feedback.
Social networking feedback: Facebook & Instagram.

Evaluation: Q2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

IN THIS VIDEO I DISCUSSED:
The representation of characters: Victim & Villain.
Colour & Lighting
Location
Fonts on the poster, magazine and film titles.

Evaluation: Q1 In what ways does your media products use, develop and challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Research and Planning: Magazine Inspiration

I am struggling to think of stories for my magazine so I put 'Empire covers' into google and looked at various stories. As the Oscars are coming up I may mention them and include the films nominated in 2013 and I will also focus on new releases.

Research and Planning: Pictures From Another Source For My Poster

These are the pictures that were used in the shed scene and I decided that I wanted to use them in my poster to exploit the stalker element of the film. Some were taken by myself, some are taken by friends and some are stills from filming so it looks as though the villain is infatuated by the victim. In the post below you can see what I have done with these pictures on my poster.

Research and Planning: Filming 28/1/13

Yesterday we filmed the climax of our trailer at the car park. I think that the footage looks really good however it took a few attempts to get it right as the scene involves the villain putting the victim and a car boot and we wanted to do it safely however we wanted to look realistic. The footage below shows what we did. Also, there was multiple problems when filming- the first car park we wanted to use was unsafe so we decided to move to a different one where the traffic wardens told us that they were locking up before the closing time. Thankfully we managed to get everything we needed to film however we were unable to take pictures for my film poster due to the camera not working and limited time.

Research and Planning: Filming 27/1/13

These are pictures from the shed scene which is my favourite part of the trailer, there were some hazards due to tools but they were not a problem. I am looking forward to editing the footage and I will experiment with this scene, i may add a blue tinge over the footage to make it seem eerie.

Research and Planning: Audience Feedback

I posted my magazine cover on Instagram and asked people to give me feed back. I will take on the advice people have me and try and improve my work.

Research and Planning: Genre Research

I analysed the trailer for the film 'Disturbia' earlier in the year. I then decided to watch the film as I felt that it would give me influence for our film trailer. I felt that the dark lighting used during the tense action scenes will be similiar to the one we see a clip of in ours. And the characterization for the villain in some ways matches how my group wants the stalker to be.

Research and Planning: Film Poster Changes and Progress

I realized that after getting the pictures for my magazine i would not be varying the shots, all the pictures would be close-ups. So I've decided to use my second draft. The title will include pictures of the victim from the film and from pictures I have taken previously. I may take a picture of the wall in the shed scene as that will be the effect I am going for. I will take a picture of the victim in the car park scene and maybe some of the stalker and use that picture as the background.

Research and Planning: Looking At Trailers For Sound

Research and Planning: Filming

Due to our main actress having a big show this week she has been unable to film over weekend and throughout the week. We aim to finish filming by next week but the snow has made it very icy and slippy so it may be unsafe to film in certain places.

Research and Planning: Organising filming

This is a screen shot of a conversation between my group on Facebook. We are attempting to sort out when we are filming but due to work and exams it is hard to find a day where everyone is free including the actors.

Research and Planning: Film Tagline Ideas

This is the tagline for the 2012 film 'House At The End of The Street'. The phrase connotes the theme of horror and it also gives the audience a subtle hint of what the film is about.
I analysed the trailer for 'Disturbia' earlier in the year so i decided to look at the tagline for it. As the film involves a killer who acts in a stalker-ish manner I thought that the tagline 'every killer lives next door to someone' appropriate.
